Larry Nilles is on full-time release from the Wake County Public Schools. His term of office runs from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2013.

For six years, I taught eighth grade social studies at Davis Drive Middle School in Cary. In that time, I benefited from the experiences of phenomenal co-workers and learned alongside nearly 1,000 students. I loved my job. But concerns about the future of public education led me to seek a position beyond the classroom.

As vice president of Wake NCAE, it is my privilege to work on behalf of thousands of WCPSS educators and the students they serve. If I can ever be of any assistance to you, please don’t hesitate to contact me. And if you ever feel the need to impact students outside of your classroom, the desire to help improve all public schools in Wake County and across North Carolina, the will to work a little harder still to make change happen, I’ll be here to help: after all, growing our local association is my job.
